Roy Ruiz Clayton

/Outsider Artist

Artist Statement:

Roy, a self-taught "outsider art" maestro, now calls Louisville home. His explosive color palette and unconventional techniques capture subjects in thrilling new ways.

From San Diego festival posters to a colossal mural for Louisville's fashion incubator, Roy's art spans coasts and mediums. He's exhibited locally and snagged first prize at Owensboro's bluegrass celebration, earning a spot in their permanent collection.

Roy's distinctive style has graced gallery walls and CD covers alike, including works for Marc Ford (ex-Black Crows) and Billy Vera. His own musical endeavors, "The New Army of Ragged Angels" and "Sanctified Soldiers of the Transfiguration of Light," showcase his dual talents in art and music.

This Appalachian-inspired artist continues to challenge artistic norms, one vibrant piece at a time.
